Settle

Image via Wikipedia

If you’ve been trying to follow me, I’m sure you’ve noticed that it’s been quite some time since I’ve posted here. First, let me apologize.

The reason for the lengthy lack of action on my part started with the necessity for me to move from Florida to Illinois for family reasons. That took my attention for a few days but didn’t keep me out of the loop for this long!

After moving, I gave myself a few days to “settle in,” to get used to my new living arrangements. In the process, I became seriously distracted from the day to day attention to the things that are important to me, the steps I take (or strive to) on a daily basis to improve my life and help others improve theirs. Understanding the Law of Attraction

Filed under Law of Attraction on Oct 13th, 2008 by Duane        2 Comments »

There has always been a lot of controversy about the Law of Attraction. Ever since the movie,The Secret, was released the talk and arguments on both sides have escalated.

I hadn’t planned on bringing up the subject for some time yet since I’m trying to cover success fundamentals first and I don’t consider the law of attraction to be on of the basic fundamentals or roots of success but, at the same time, it is the foundation upon which any personal development program depends.

For that reason, I decided to approach the subject. Without analysis of beliefs and development of a more positive attitude, a complete understanding of the law of attraction is difficult, if not impossible. However, I think it is necessary to acknowledge its existence and to accept the fact that the Law of Attraction is a law!

What I mean by that is, just like the law of gravity or any other physical law, the law of attraction is constantly working in your life whether you believe it or not. If you don’t believe in the law of gravity, it won’t stop you from plummeting to the ground if you jump off the top of a building. (more…)

Are You Having Fun Yet?

Filed under Attitude on Sep 6th, 2008 by Duane        3 Comments »

When asked, “Are we having fun yet?” a friend of mine used to say, “No. I had fun once and it was nothing like this.”

My question for you today is - Are you having fun? If not, why not? Isn’t being successful all about being happy? Isn’t being happy having fun?

Maybe you haven’t thought of it this way but whatever you think of, when you think about that magical word “Success,” all boils down to being happier. Let’s examine that for a minute. (more…)

Am I a Self Improvement Renegade?

Filed under personal development first steps on Sep 4th, 2008 by Duane        1 Comment »

I’ve been studying self improvement and personal development material for over forty years and, during that time, I’ve come to understand that some of it works some of the time for some of the people.

None of it (that I’ve found) works all the time for everyone. There are several reasons, some apparent and some not so apparent. Here are those I’ve found to be the most damaging. (more…)

Do You Meditate? A Meditation How-To.

Filed under personal development first steps on Aug 23rd, 2008 by Duane        2 Comments »

Yesterday, it became evident to me that meditation and how to meditate is a subject that’s essential for establishing a foundation for your personal development program.

I have always considered meditation to be one of the main ingredients in any recipe for becoming successful but hadn’t thought of it as part of the platform from which to launch your personal development plan.

I’d thought of meditation as something to cover after the core elements of desire and belief. I was talking to my friend John (which might be his real name). :-) The conversation turned to something that changed my mind about waiting until later to talk to you about meditation. (more…)

Are You Filled With Self Doubt?

Filed under belief on Aug 19th, 2008 by Duane        No Comments »

I have a question for you. Does this video describe your thoughts in any way?

The Power of Self Doubt

It’s all too easy to get caught up in the negative attitudes of others and let ourselves think just like the guy in the video (alright, maybe not quite that bad). But, what can we do to avoid this king of thinking?

Do You Have That Winning Feeling?

Filed under Miscellaneous, belief on Aug 17th, 2008 by Duane        No Comments »

Did you ever want to be really good at something and then, one day, you realized that you had become really good at it?

I’m sure you have. Deep down inside you knew that you had become a master of the skill. You had no doubt that you’d achieved expert status. No one could ever convince you that you weren’t among the best at whatever particular skill you’d struggled with and finally mastered.

But how did you know? What was different today than yesterday when you didn’t consider yourself among the best?

Desire and Belief

Filed under belief on Aug 16th, 2008 by Duane        1 Comment »

In my last post I said that I would get into belief next as the first logical step in beginning a personal development plan of action. Most such plans start with desire and goal setting. Why don’t I?

Desire is certainly a necessary prerequisite of personal improvement program but what good is a strong desire without the belief that the desired outcome can and will be attained?

What Are You Thinking?

Filed under Miscellaneous on Aug 13th, 2008 by Duane        No Comments »

Do you spend most of your time thinking about how you will become more successful or how to avoid, cope with or overcome your problems?

It’s been proven that worrying about something like lack of money, poor health or loneliness just attracts more of the same to you.

Achievers (successful people) keep their minds on what they do want most of the time while most people tend to think about and worry about what they don’t want. The purpose of Success Myths Uncovered is to teach you how to overcome your negative thinking and move forward toward a better, richer, happier, healthier life.

What do you need to do to accomplish this?
